5 out of 5 stars The Best !   March 20, 2010
D. C. Figenshu (Poconos Pa.)
I use FRS/GMRS radios for my volunteer ski group at Jack Frost Mountain in the Poconos, and the Motorola EM1000R outperform stronger wattage Cobras, Midlands and a host of other radios. Mountainous terrain is always a challenge for a portable radio, but these are consistently, stronger and perform well under some pretty extreme conditions. Even below 0 degrees the batteries hold up well and the small LED light provides an added bonus. I plan on purchasing a few more to use while motorcycling and hiking. They are also a great option to an in-house paging system

5 out of 5 stars Cheap dependable communication   March 30, 2010
Mike Wells lll (NJ)
Having had experience with some commercial RS 2-ways in the 90s, I like these a lot. The Radio Shack units cost several hundred dollars and worked no better than than these. I have no complaints, they seem to have adequate range, and if the airwaves are busy, the security code will suppress all the other traffic.
Good product

These are the perfect tool for community emergency preparedness. They are affordable and have great range. The ease of use is very helpful for young and old.

We use this when we cruise - so we can find each other. Our grandies also like them - what a fun way to play hide and go seek!!

5 out of 5 stars Satisfied Customer   May 15, 2010
I was looking for a new set of radios to replace my old motorola Talkabouts, to use in conjunction with my set of Cobra Microtalks. When I did the range test, The cobras went about 1 mile. The new radios went about 2 miles in the neighborhood. Since I do not have a GMRS license, I stay on the FRS channels. Sometimes I can hear other users, and i like the interference eliminator codes. Scan feature is nice, I'm even able to hear GMRS repeater outputs on the GMRS channels. The flashlight features is a great feature, and so is the Weather radio. They also came with belt clips, which are good. I like the ability to connect a speaker microphone to it, and that works also. They've been great and still are.
