remarkable and durable pen flashlight October 3, 2009 Microman (Seattle, WA USA) 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
If you are looking for a well made pen flashlight, look no further. The beam is bright and nicely focused. The feel and heft is perfect, light but solid. The button is on the end and water sealed. How do I know? This penlight has taken a turn through the washing machine (accidentally) twice without any problems. I highly recommend this product. I have both the one and two cell version, but for portability use the smaller one more often
Best pocket flashlight hands-down. October 6, 2009 Frank Snyder (Wilkes-Barre, PA) 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
You will not believe just how bright this thing is. The beam is almost fluid like, with no "dead spots" in the pattern. The range is incredible, for something the size of your finger. Just use it around someone, and, see if they don't ask what kind of light it is. It is made to survive most all of life's little surprises, and, is totally waterproof to boot (believe me). I need a light I can count on, and require it to be small enough to carry at all times, this, by far,is the best light I have purchased, all others, including my Pelican Xenon (short bulb life but nice light), are relegated to the "drawer".
Great light for a good price. AAA battery October 11, 2009 C. Daniels (USA) 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
This light is a great value around $14. Very bright beam with no gaps in a tiny size. I own a SF as well and I will say it isn't quite as bright but it also doesn't burn through batteries like the SF does, pricey batteries. A 12 pack of SF batteries cost me as much as one Streamlight and running a restaurant I use a light daily to check under tables and such for debris. This light will save me a fortune in batteries.
Nice little light November 17, 2009 RG 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
Looks to be well built and surely does light up the immediate area very well.
I agree with the one reviewer that the clip is tight to the case and could
end up scratching it when removing or reinstalling after a battery change.
My solution and I'm sure others will have a much better one, was to shrink
a bit of electrical wire heat shrink tubing around the area where the clip
end rests against the light's case. This so far, has proven to work pretty
well when one removes the cap/clip to replace a battery. One just has to
be careful when reinstalling the cap so as not to cross-thread it against
the threads on the case and all will be well.
I like this little light a lot and have to say Amazon's shipping was very
fast to the house as well. Very pleased with the whole transaction.
Terrific Little Light! March 23, 2010 W. C. White (Seattle<=Arizona<=Brooklyn) 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
I did a lot of comparison shopping on Amazon before I decided on this model, and I'd say I made an excellent decision.
*First and foremost, the intensity of the light output from this little thing rivals even my 4AA 1W Luxeon light. It actually surprised me! I think it will suprise you as well, for any but the largest flashlights, but especially given the extreme compactness of the MicroStream light. The MicroStream runs on a single AAA cell, so it isn't going to have the life that a 2 or 4 cell light will; I haven't worn out the battery than shipped in my MicroStream yet, though I will say I have put at least 45 minutes on it with no sign of dimming, excellent, given the advertised life of 90 minutes per AAA cell!
*The beam is bright, very white (finally, manufacturers have got most of the blue out of LED flashlights), and throws a beam that has a center hot spot that is round, and completely without the dark sections and other artifacts seen in other lights (LED lights do a better job generally at this than other bulb technologies, but this one is even better). This is a tiny penlight, so much that it hides well in my closed fist.
*The switch is ideally placed at the end, and can be touched for momentary lighting, or clicked to leave it on. The case is quality aluminum, with a nice black matte finish. I deliberately dropped it from a height of 5 feet while turned on [and while off] about 10 ten times onto a linoleum floor (had it broken I would have returned it), and it didn't even blink while on. The finish seems to resist scratching well (it's been on my keyring in my pocket for 5 days, nary a nick!), and on examination there is a rubber O-ring inside making this light water resistant, though since it has some electronics in it to get the highest brightness and the last little bit out of your battery, I didn't do an immersion test (pending a reply from the manufacturer about the advisability of submerging it).
*The MicroStream now hangs on my keychain, and I like it so well I am eager for opportunities to use it! I will be buying other lights made by StreamLight in future. It's not often you find a product you can so unreservedly endorse [and a manufacturer with a terrific product line], and at the Amazon price its a no-brainer. If you are looking for a very small flashlight than has very high light output, and is over-engineered and well made, look no further.
