Exactly as described March 6, 2010 Sara C. Danielson 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
The emergency blankets arrived and are exactly as described in the ad. The shipping was increadibly fast, and the size of the actual blanket pakaging is small enough to be convieniantly stored almost anywhere. I plan on keeping these in the glove box of my car, and may get more to keep around the house or store with our camping gear.
Bought for emergency April 19, 2010 B. Svezia (Mo. USA) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I bought these for emergencies for the family. Hopefully, they will not have to be used, but just in case...
Great radiant barrier! June 29, 2010 Corey L. Oakes (TX) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
Arrived very quickly in an envelope. The blankets are tiny, neatly folded and individually packed into mini zip lock baggies.
I purchased this four-pack for inclusion in an emergency "Grab-n-Go Bag".
When I discovered that I already had some, I decided to open one up and check it out.
Each mylar blanket is thin, very light-weight, shiny on both sides and partially see-thru.
While holding it up for inspection, I noticed that the sun shining into my window wasn't as intense as it normally is. With that in mind, I took a couple to work and taped them to windows that radiate heat unmercifully (summer in Texas), and the room immediately seemed to be cooler.
What a great product! It is much less expensive, at around a dollar each, than window film.
These space/emergency blankets are 52" x 84".
If you want a slightly bigger sheet, there are twelve (12) 62" x 82" blankets for $12.50, available on Amazon.com ( search for B000K2O8WY ) with free S&H.
Definitely a five-star product for price, delivery speed, packaging and multi-purposefulness!
UPDATE: If you use this as a radiant barrier taped to a window, be advised that the material is mildly flammable. After covering several windows at work, the question was raised as to the flash point and combustability of this effective, low-cost radiant heat blocking solution. The material immediately ignites with a lighter, and the flames start to slowly consume the material. Not as fast as paper, but still still quickly enough to be deemed a safety hazard at my workplace. Looks like I'll have to save these for camping and emergency use and rely on window film to keep radiant heat out of buildings.
Don't "Bug Out" Without Them! February 12, 2010 J. Doyle (Northeast, USA) 3 out of 4 found this review helpful
These thermal blankets are an absolute must for your survival pack. Although they are designed to be used against your body while wearing very little clothing (maximum heating effect occurs when placed directly against your skin), they will help keep you warm while you are fully dressed. They are also thin enough to cut into pieces to put against your skin under your clothes (chest, legs and arms). As others have indicated, they do have a variety of uses. If you must improvise, adapt and overcome to survive, it will be much easier with these in your arsenal!
mondo heat reflector March 30, 2010 UV (LA, USA) 2 out of 3 found this review helpful
i placed this underneath my sheets when I sleep. And it actually reflected my body heat and kept me more than warm. I actually found that I cant sleep with my quilt, but with a lighter blanket !!! While the "crumpling" sound takes getting use too, I found that if you put two sets of sheets on the bed if muffles the "crumpling" sound so much that its barely noticeable.
bottom line, it works.
If I had to use anything but this for warmth in an emergency, I would use it in a heartbeat.
It might also work great as a liner in a light jacket, just make sure you have "vents" I'm sure
it would heat up rather quickly.
